Set of three paper bookmarks of Baron Münchhausen, a fictional German nobleman, based on a real baron Hieronymus Karl Friedrich von Münchhausen.
The real-life Münchhausen became a minor celebrity for telling outrageous tall tales based on his military service in the Russo-Turkish War. After hearing some of Münchhausen's stories, the writer Rudolf Erich Raspe adapted them anonymously into literary form. German version expanded by the poet Gottfried August Bürger.
The fictional Baron's exploits, narrated by himself, focus on his impossible achievements as a sportsman, soldier, and traveler... as we can see on our original illustrated bookmarks such as riding on a cannonball to discover power of enemy, climbing to the Moon or travelling under the sea on sea-horse...
Size: 5-7 x 19 cm, digital cut, dye-cut of Baron riding on the canonball :-)
